Denis Fontaine-Besset


Denis Fontaine-Besset   specialises in taxation as applied to the financial markets and financing transactions.

He has an extensive experience acquired in major French and Anglo-Saxon investment banks including in front  positions (Banque Worms, CCF and HSBC) and  law firms (Arthur Andersen, Orrick Herrington).

He acquired  a strong experience in financial services and international tax structuring, including cross border leasing and financings ,tax management of international group,…

With a strong business education, he developed a business oriented approach of tax issues , allowing him to assist groups  in transfer pricing issues including definition of policies, documentation and assistance in controversies.

Denis is involved in academic education for various French law universities and was French reporter for the 2009 IFA congress on tax issues in relation to forex operations taxation. He is regularly publishing on corporate tax matters in various business magazines.

Denis Fontaine-Besset began his career in the tax department of the company ETPM. He then worked for Arthur Andersen International as a legal and tax advisor before joining Worms Bank as a tax manager in 1990.
In 1996, he joined the Asset Financing department of HSBC Bank where has was an arrangement manager and subsequently, co-manager of business in France and business development manager for Germany.

In 2008, he became an Of Counsel in the Global Finance department of the firm Orrick Rambaud Martel. He joined the STCPARTNERS’ Tax department as a partner in November 2010.

He graduated from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) in 1984 with a degree in international affairs.
He is a member of the IFA.
